Sourced from the finest lavender fields of Provence, Elgiva London is an undiluted 100% natural lavender oil. It is an intense, single estate Lavandula Hybrida oil uniquely crafted over generations by a dedicated family of Provençal farmers who have developed their own strain of the plant and are one of a handful of farms which still use the traditional method of distillation. The resulting bouquet is exceptional, being a perfect balance of camphor, limonene, linalyl acetate and linalool and much more long lasting than other lavender oil. The most common uses are as a home fragrance, pillow spray and effective moth deterrent.

Uses - Lavender Oil
Home Fragrance, Muscle Relaxant & Disinfectant:
Add a few drops....
- to your bath for a luxurious, relaxing soak relieving stiffness, aches and arthritis whilst simultaneously spreading a lingering fragrance. A little goes a long way; use a pipette dropper to monitor quantity. Always dilute (with another oil, such as almond oil) before using directly on the skin.
- to an electric diffuser and release a fine mist of scented lavender vapour into the atmosphere. The strength is a matter of personal taste, although 5-10 drops is normally enough.
- to an oil burner filled with water to envelop your home in a beautiful, potent lavender fragrance.
- to a ceramic vapour ring; dilute well with water and note these pair with old-style incandescent light bulbs.
Spray...
- to neutralise unwanted odours.
- directly onto clothing - especially wools, cashmere, linen, tweed etc. Spray either while it's in the cupboard or when you're about to wear it; it doesn't leave a mark.
- onto your pillow for a relaxing night (or you can use the pipette dropper).
- directly onto any soft furnishings.
Natural Reed Diffusers...
-The 30cm sticks are best placed in a half to two thirds empty bottle; the fragrance is immediate and beautiful.
Use to Scent Laundry: add a few drops to the softener (normally middle) compartment of your washing machine and your sheets will emerge with the fresh scent of lavender.
Moth deterrence: by adding essential lavender oil to the final rinse, woollens and cashmere will have an aromatic coating as part of a moth-deterrence routine. Some items may require a more generous amount of lavender oil, depending on the quantity and weight of the wool being washed. If washing your woollens or cashmere before bagging up, we suggest using 2-3 times the normal quantity. As a general rule, if you can smell the delicious lavender aroma when removing garments from the machine as well as when they are dry, you have used a sufficient amount to help deter moths.
Always wash, treat and bag up clothes you are not going to wear in the Summer.
- Before treating with lavender, keep your clothing, wardrobes and drawers dust-free and clean; those pesky moths like nothing better than loose hair and grubby fabrics.
- Treat and repeat - no need to resort to foul smelling moth treatments - use lavender regularly.
N.B. If the moths have already laid eggs in the clothes, it is too late.
Use as a disinfectant: wipe down kitchen surfaces, floors mixing first with water or, for best results, an emulsifier.
Mosquitoes/Midges deterrent: spray or burn a few drops in an oil burner or electric diffuser around mosquitoes and midges. Rub a little on mosquito bites to alleviate itching.
Head lice deterrent: once head lice have been eradicated, you can help stop them returning by adding oil to your children's baths and/or spray on pillows and clothing. Some customers tell us they rub a little behind their children's ears.
- Use an Elgiva London lavender sachet with dried lavender sourced from the same Provençal farm. Place between pillows for a calming lavender aroma, across drawers or over hangers.
These are hand stitched in lawn cotton (Liberty prints and organic white) Oxford pillow cases with a removable lavender filled inner.
They are all made in the UK and gift boxed with a ribbon. The outers are washable.
They come in two sizes and are deliberately flatish. The larger size is roughly A3 and the smaller size A5. They can be placed under or between pillows to give a calming fragrance to bedrooms, across drawers and over hangers for moth deterrence - or even in a suitcase.
After a few years when the aroma fades, rub the lavender sachets vigorously between your palms which will release tiny drops of oil and a fresh aroma for several more years. Following that you can enhance the sachet by injecting with a pipette of oil - or contact Elgiva London for a replacement inner.

Elgiva London Lavender Oil Shelf Life:
Our bottles are eco-friendly and made from purple-black biophotonic glass which preserves the essence of natural products for five years or more if left unopened. The bigger bottles represent the best value with no wastage as long as the lid is not left off for longer than necessary. Be mindful of temperature - leave in the coolest spot possible (not on a radiator). Although the label says 'use within 24 months of opening', this is a generalisation and the oil will last much longer.
Sustainability:
Elgiva London lavender oil is 100% pure and undiluted.
The glass bottles are made from natural raw materials, reusable and 100% recyclable.
The 100ml and 250ml bottles are secured with a screw top lid and sealed with wax; wax is made from a diverse number of 100% natural, fully sustainable, ethical and high-quality raw materials – think Beeswax, Coconut and Sunflower.
The filled 50ml, 100ml and 250ml bottles can be purchased with a branded calico bag made from natural cotton and fastened with a cotton wax cord.
The wax strip used to remove the wax stopper is currently not recyclable; we are looking for a replacement on future batches.
Caution:
Please note, Elgiva London is not an aromatherapy massage oil as it is too potent when undiluted. If you dilute it with another oil, such as almond oil, it can be used as a massage oil to relieve muscle tension.
Causes serious eye irritation; rinse with water, remove contact lenses.
May cause an allergic skin reaction; be cautious if applying directly onto the skin and wash with soap and water if irritation occurs.
Seek medical advice if irritation persists.

There are a plethora of moth deterrents out there but only one is Nature’s own. Moths detest the scent of lavender, making it a natural and chemical-free solution for protecting your precious fabrics.
The Life Cycle of a Moth
Understanding your adversary is the first step to effective moth control. The life cycle of a moth includes several stages: from egg to larva to pupa and finally, to the adult stage with the cycle taking 65-90 days altogether.
The vulnerable stages and places where lavender oil can be particularly effective in disrupting the life cycle.
Moth-Proofing Your Wardrobe
- Clean out your cupboards and keep clothes washed and free from loose hairs and food crumbs; spray the cupboard surfaces with lavender oil and wipe with a damp cloth.
- Add a few drops of lavender oil to the softener compartment of your washing machine for freshly-scented jumpers.
- This simple trick transforms your laundry routine into a moth-repelling ritual, especially effective for delicate fabrics like cashmere and wool, but also gives bed sheets a fresh scent.
- The quantity you add depends on the size of drum and contents – obviously one cashmere jumper will require less than a machine full of king size bed sheets and pillow cases. We suggest a capful or pipette to begin with; it’s trial and error or personal taste.
Moth-proofing Your Bedrooms and other rooms
- For an extra lavender hit, use new diffuser sticks in the last quarter of a 100 or 250ml bottle; place in the bedroom near a cupboard or drawers.
- Spray your clothes with oil - either diluted, or undiluted. We have exhaustively stain-tested our lavender oil; it doesn’t stain at all - not cashmere or white linen bedsheets.
The Science Behind Lavender's Moth-Repelling Power
- The aroma primarily deters fully-grown moths in flight, breaking the cycle before they lay eggs. Assuming you already have moths somewhere in your home (and most people in the UK report that sadly they do), it’s wise to keep up the deterrent work throughout the year although Spring and Summer are the main moth-hatching months - when the cycle inevitably starts again...
It's therefore essential to repeat these processes frequently in order to break the cycle.
